Upcoming in 2015 – fixed gear
With the big bike shows just around the corner, companies are starting to unveil framesets and innovations awaiting 2015. Here’s a little selection of fixed-gear framesets floating around the Web ; First off, Cannondale’s rumored CAAD 10 track bike. Some say it’s not the Classic track, and that it won’t be made in the USA, but CAAD’s are still great and this is going to be a strong competitor to MASH’s and the likes. Wide wheelbase and relaxed headtube make for a very different frame then the classic or even the more recent capo. Time will tell if this frame is advanced aluminium like it says, which means smartformed 6069 aluminium like the road CAAD’s. The mean green paint scheme does look good though.

Speaking of MASH, they previewed Garret Chow’s new design for the frameset. It retains the same geometry but adds an integrated headset. Cinelli says it’s coming for October 2014. I have to say I prefer this one’s cleaner look, 2014’s were quite complex looking. Here’s the link to Garret’s instagram.

Next up, Look. It seems they will be making a new steel track frame. There’s not much info on it around the Web, but here’s what we can see ; LOOK AC 364 Pista, made of Tange Infinity (double butted) with some chromed lugs (polished on the exterior) and chainstays. Look says the geometry was based on the L96 track, but the material allows for a sturdy city frame. Bringing back 90’s Look design, I think this frameset looks very interesting. Claimed weight for frame and fork is 2200g. A track frame drilled for brakes with bottle bosses of high quality is not unheard of, but very nice to see. According to the german Look website, the price would be around 1000$CAD. I just hope with these colors it’s going to be up to the task of the brand’s history, and not some king of fixie chinese frameset, especially with that pricetag.

Finally, let’s not forget the new DT Swiss Track Hubs featured on Bedovelo’s website. Nothing much is known about them, but I bet they kick ass. Maybe they’ll even be smoother than Dura Ace 7600’s
