Something new from Sugino? 75DD.
Sugino, a company from Japan, is known for it’s quality NJS products, among other, road and track parts. They are mostly producing drivetrain-related components, but also offer various mounts for computers and such.
That being said, their only available 144bcd track cranks were NJS, which means Japan Keirin Association standards (JIS taper, etc.) Albeit, they do offer the Sugino Messenger crankset in 130bcd. However, what is really in the news today is the 75DD, standing for Sugino 75 Direct Drive.
Those are, simply put, a set of Sugino 75’s with an outboard bearing bottom bracket, much like the SRAM Omniums. Seeing something new from this brand that I love is awesome. It shows that they are *finally* ready to open their higher-end components to the standard of the world instead of the, arguably lower, NJS standard. Will this make Shimano go for a non-NJS Dura Ace track crankset ?
