Michael’s TVT Pursuit: our second Halifax feature
The second feature of our trip to Halifax is non other than one of Michael’s bike, our host. While he did the alleycat (the reason of our trip to Halifax) on his Cannondale road bike, he had a leisure ride on one of his track bikes.
This frame, a carbon-kevlar TVT pursuit frame, with alloy lugs, was bought some time after he started couriering in Toronto. At that time, the Olympic Velodrome of Montreal had just closed down and it was selling it’s bikes. This bike was bought by a bike shop in Toronto and then Michael purchased it. He then proceeded to use it as his workhorse!
After a while, Michael started messengering in Montreal and was the first (or third) messenger to ride a track bike. I say third, because there were two others bike messengers that were not couriering at that time that did use track before/after him. Anyway, he still has the original fork and all that jazz, but we took pics of it as it how setup for the job.
This bike has seen it all, and still runs smooth. It’s a testament to the workmanship of the 80’s for the technological novelty that was carbon. Of course, Michael did not use it for his entire bike messenger career, but it did his fair share of races and heavy deliveries!
