Hour Record Bike : Jack Bobridge’s Cervélo and his bearded mechanic.
Since the UCI changed the rules of the Hour Record to fit UCI-legal time-trial bikes in it (instead of say, steel frames like legend Eddy Merckx had), a couple of guys have given momentum to this feat again. Last year, Jens Voigt tried his hand at it, to finish of his career in big. He got his time beaten by Matthias Brändle. Next up on the list is Jack Bobridge who will try to beat the hour on January 31st. Jack is no rookie to time trial, having won the under-23 time trial at the UCI championships. He also set a record for the 4k individual pursuit.
His team, Budget Forklifts, made this awesome video, not of him, but of his bike. But what’s capturing our attention is not only the bike, but the majestic bearded bike mechanic/wizard that’s putting it together. The gorgeous Cervélo T4 from the Canadian-based company is built up with Lightweight wheels and other incredibly high-performance composite components.
