Cycle Chic – Vancouver films
Since 2012, Vancouver Cycle Chic is a society and a team of people writing a blog on having style on a bicycle. Following the success of their blog and all the positive feedback, they’re trying their hands on events and films. You can check their short movies on their Vimeo Channel. Focusing on the social aspect of cycling, it’s refreshing to see something complimentary to what you can see at a Bicycle Film Festival, like we discussed before.
Cycle Chic is a regroupment of blogs that began in Copenhagen, aka the world’s most bike-friendly metropolis, in 2006. Mostly composed of fashion photos about ordinary, yet beautiful people riding bikes with style, the blog is well known and has featured from more than 40 cities, including Montreal and Ottawa. Who knows, maybe you’re one of the stylish people immortalized in those photos. The team of bloggers and photographers, in each city, are very talented. What I like about looking at that, personally, is less what they are wearing then where they are : the blogs each showcase a city full of cyclists and we get to see it as such, not as a car-filled traffic-jammed commercial jam pot.
All of these blogs want to give hommage to the cyclists of their city. That’s why we can’t wait to watch the complete Vancouver Cycle Chic films. The trailer’s well made and you can feel the pretty aspect of cycling which is something we can tend to forget easily, focussing on the sport itself and the somewhat more competitive aspect of it.
Don’t forget to check the rest of their interviews, as that was simply a trailer!
